72 NEW COMPANIES CREATED BY WOMEN WILL RECEIVE NON-REFUNDABLE GRANTS THROUGH THE “WOMEN IN BUSINESS” PROGRAM

The Supervisory Committee of the "Women in Business" Program have approved the winners of the 5th Small Grants Competition. 156 entrepreneurs from all regions of the country entered the competition. The total value of the grants will be 9.02 million MDL, which will stimulate the investment in the national economy of about 15 million MDL.

Iuliana Drăgălin, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, was present at the online meeting of the External Committee, underlining the state's support for women entrepreneurs.

"We admire the courage and perseverance of women entrepreneurs from the Republic of Moldova. During this complicated periodwe support investment projectswhich contribute to the economic development of communities, to the creation and maintenance of jobs, especially in rural areas", mentioned Iuliana Drăgălin.

Iulia Costin, General Director of ODIMM, emphasized that the promotion of female entrepreneurship is a priority of the state.

"The Women in Business program is an appreciated one in the economic environment, which has demonstrated great results and we are glad that we can offer opportunities to our women to fit into the economic circuit. ODIMM will continue to invest and support the female potential in the entrepreneurial field in order to help viable business ideas to materialize and become successful models”.

The funding of these new 72 companies will generate about 219 new jobs.

About 55% of the investment projects, approved today, are in the field of service provision (educational centers, speech therapy and child psychology, furniture design, printing and design of clothing templates, photographic activities and cinematography, accounting and auditing, aesthetic medicine and dietetics clinic, agritourism, ICT and online marketing activities, non-hazardous waste collection, etc.), other 38% will operate in the manufacturing industry (production of clothing, furniture manufacturing, pastries and bakery, production of vegetable oil, fruit tea, berries and herbs, fruit and vegetable processing), and 7% are from agriculture and zootechnics (beekeeping).

The winners of the grants will develop innovative businesses, such as: the production of disinfectants for the medical field and HoReCa; handmade natural cosmetics, charcoal, personalized wooden toys, teacher training, mental arithmetic and diplomacy center for children, communication consultancy; custom folding armchairs and design of landscape design.

To date, 395 investment projects have been funded through the Women in Business Program. The total value of the projects was 53.94 million MDL, which generated 93 million MDL of investments in the economy and facilitated the creation of over 1600 new jobs. The maximum value of the non-reimbursable financing within this component is 165,000 MDL/beneficiary, which can be used for the purchase of investment items and business development services.

The program is funded from the state budget and capitalized by European Union through the "Support for SMEs in Rural Areas" Project.

The winners of the selected investment projects will be invited to ODIMM at the beginning of September to sign the grant contracts.
